For 15 editions now, IPIHAN has been organising a five-week working period at abandoned industrial sites in Europe. A group of artists lives and works on site, creating site-specific installations, always using the building and its surroundings as a starting point.
From an old jute spinning mill in Leipzig (2012) to a mercury mine in Slovenia (2025): each edition transforms a forgotten place into a temporary living and working space. In the first week, the artists build their own kitchen, sleeping quarters and sanitary facilities — using found materials as much as possible. During the closing weekend, IPIHAN traditionally opens its doors to the public: not only to see the works, but also to experience how the artists have lived for five weeks.
In Nieuw Charlois, we present:
An IPIHAN-style bar and merch shop
A photo archive of all 15 editions
The documentary of Edition #15 (made by Tine Mažgon)
...and a number of documentaries from recent years, the multiples from the crowdfunding box, all IPIHAN edition t-shirts!
And the multiples and t-shirts are also for sale!
Participants in Edition #15 were: Pim Palsgraaf, Judy van Luyk, Regina Kelaita Lieve van den Bijgaart, Esther Kokmeijer, Anne Roos van Veen, Guus Vreeburg, Willem Besselink, Maruša Štibelj and Maurice Bogaert.
